Hermès Birkin and Kelly Bags: What You Need to Know About Their Prices in India

A classic Birkin or Kelly can easily put you into the ₹15–25 lakh range, depending on the size, leather, hardware, condition and how you buy it. Exotic versions can move dramatically higher.

But there is an important distinction between international boutique retail, Indian retail pricing, the cost of importing a bag yourself and the price of a certified pre-owned Hermès bag in India.

Here is what you actually need to know.

Hermès Birkin & Kelly Price in India: 2026 at a Glance

Hermès does not publish a public Indian online price list for its Birkin and Kelly bags. International 2026 pricing, however, gives us a useful benchmark.

Current 2026 US and European pricing reported for classic models includes:

Hermès BagLeather2026 International Retail PriceApprox. INR Equivalent*
Birkin 25Togo / Swift$13,500 / €9,600₹12.5–13.0 lakh
Birkin 30Togo$14,900 / €10,600₹13.8–14.3 lakh

Mini Kelly IIEpsom$11,400 / €8,000₹10.6–10.9 lakh
Exotic Birkin / KellyCrocodile, alligator, ostrich etc.Can exceed $50,000₹45 lakh+

*INR figures are indicative conversions, not official Hermès India prices. Actual Indian boutique pricing is not publicly listed online and can differ by market, tax structure, exchange rates and model specification.*

The 2026 international pricing is significant because Hermès increased prices again in January. The Birkin 25 Togo and Swift now list at $13,500 in the US and €9,600 in Europe, while the Birkin 30 Togo is $14,900 and the Birkin 35 Togo is $16,300.

For Kelly bags, the 2026 Kelly 25 in Togo and Epsom is listed at $13,700 in the US and €9,600 in Europe. The Kelly 28 in Togo and Epsom is $14,400 and €10,100 respectively.

How Much Is a Birkin 25 in India?

The Birkin 25 is one of the most sought-after sizes in the Hermès collection.

In 2026, its international boutique price is approximately:

  • $13,500 in the US
  • €9,600 in Europe

for Togo and Swift leather.

At an indicative exchange rate of roughly ₹95–96 to the US dollar, that works out to approximately ₹12.8–13 lakh before Indian taxes, duties or other acquisition costs.

The final Birkin 25 price in India depends on whether the bag is purchased through an Indian boutique, brought into India from overseas or purchased from the Indian pre-owned market.

How Much Is a Birkin 30 in India?

The Birkin 30 remains one of the most recognisable and commercially important Hermès sizes.

The 2026 US retail price for a Togo Birkin 30 is $14,900, while the European price is €10,600.

That translates to approximately ₹14 lakh before Indian taxes and import costs, using an indicative ₹95–96/USD conversion.

But again, that should not be interpreted as an official Hermès Birkin 30 price in India.

The Indian price can be materially different because India does not simply convert the European or US ticket price into rupees.

How Much Is a Kelly 25 in India?

The Kelly 25 is arguably one of the most desirable Hermès bags for collectors who want the Kelly silhouette without moving into the larger sizes.

For 2026, Hermès lists the Kelly 25 in both Togo Retourné and Epsom Sellier at $13,700 in the US and €9,600 in Europe.

That places the international retail equivalent at roughly ₹13 lakh before Indian taxes and import-related costs.

The Kelly 25 also benefits from particularly strong demand in the secondary market, especially in classic colours such as Black, Gold and Etoupe.

How Much Is a Kelly 28 in India?

The Kelly 28 occupies a sweet spot between the compact Kelly 25 and larger Kelly sizes.

In 2026, the Kelly 28 in Togo Retourné or Epsom Sellier is listed at approximately:

$14,400 in the US
€10,100 in Europe

That is approximately ₹13.5–14 lakh at current indicative exchange rates before Indian taxes and import costs.

For someone researching the Hermès Kelly price in India, this is one of the most useful international benchmarks because Kelly 25 and Kelly 28 are among the sizes most frequently discussed in the resale market.

Why the Hermès Birkin Price in India Is Not Simply the US Price × Exchange Rate

There are several reasons:

1. International prices are market-specific

Hermès does not use one universal global price.

The US, Europe, UK, Japan, Singapore, Dubai and other markets have their own pricing structures, taxes and currency considerations.

Europe can sometimes look particularly attractive because tourists may be eligible for a VAT refund, although the actual refund depends on the country, retailer and refund provider.

2. India has its own tax structure

For leather handbags classified under HSN 4202, the current CBIC GST schedule lists an 18% GST rate. This is important because the commonly repeated claim that luxury handbags universally attract a 40% GST rate in India is not supported by the current HSN 4202 GST schedule.

The exact tax treatment of an imported bag can also differ depending on its customs classification and whether it is entering India as passenger baggage or through a commercial import.

What Happens If You Buy a Birkin Abroad and Bring It to India?

This is one of the most common questions around the Birkin price in India.

The rules changed in 2026.

Under India’s Baggage Rules, 2026, an eligible Indian resident or tourist of Indian origin arriving through a mode other than land has a ₹75,000 duty-free allowance. The rules came into effect from February 2, 2026.

That does not mean a ₹15 lakh handbag can simply be carried into India without tax.

If a high-value item is dutiable, it needs to be declared and assessed according to the applicable customs rules. CBIC specifically advises travellers that dutiable goods should be declared and warns that undeclared or misdeclared goods can be detained.

For a commercial import of a leather handbag, the calculation is different again. Current tariff data for the relevant leather handbag classification indicates a 15% Basic Customs Duty, along with applicable Social Welfare Surcharge and IGST; the exact assessment depends on the tariff classification and circumstances of import.

Why Authentication Matters More With a Birkin

The Birkin and Kelly are among the most heavily counterfeited luxury handbags in the market. That creates a particular problem for Indian buyers shopping through informal resale channels.

A seller saying “100% authentic” is not the same thing as having a documented authentication process.

At Luxepolis, Hermès pieces go through a physical authentication process before being offered to customers, with the product details assessed alongside condition and specifications.

That matters because a luxury resale transaction is ultimately a trust transaction.

Is buying a pre-owned Birkin in India worth it?

For buyers who want immediate access to a specific Birkin or Kelly, the certified pre-owned market can be a practical alternative to boutique sourcing. However, the value depends heavily on the bag’s authenticity, condition, colour, leather, hardware, age and provenance

Exotic Birkins can cost several times more than classic leather versions. For example, the 2026 US price for a Birkin 25 in Shiny Porosus Crocodile is listed at $66,400, compared with $13,500 for Togo. Rare exotic and special-edition pieces can therefore move well beyond the ₹40 lakh mark.

Hermès operates boutiques in Mumbai and New Delhi, but Birkin and Kelly availability is highly limited and acquisition is handled through the boutique client relationship and allocation system rather than normal online retail.
